The Mala is a rosary containing 108 beads, traditionally used for meditation and prayer: for keeping count while reciting, chanting or repeating a mantra (or the name(s) of a particular deity – a practice known in Sanskrit as japa).

Hindu tradition holds that the correct way to use a mala is with the right hand, the thumb flicking one bead to the next, and the mala draped over the middle finger. The index finger represents the ego, the greatest impediment to Self-Realization, so it is considered best avoided (as with the ego) when chanting on a mala.

Malas are believed to have a calming and grounding effect on the wearer, and to provide protection and attract positive energy. They are not only a tool for spiritual growth, but also serve as a stunning piece of jewellery. These beautiful mala beads are imported from Ahmedabad, India, and are supplied in a velvet pouch, available in a choice of eleven gemstone variants.

Dimensions: Due to the nature of the gemstone, each mala bead's size and length may vary. The size of the beads is approximately 0.6 cm to 0.8 cm, and the length is approximately 60 cm to 80 cm.
