Large Brass Singing Bowl
Singing bowls are a type of bell. Rather than hanging inverted or attached to a handle the singing bowls sit with the bottom surface resting. The sides and rim of the singing bowl vibrate when struck, to produce a sound that can be sustained by running the stick around the bowl's rim. They are used in Buddhist practice as a support for meditation, trance induction and prayer.
